Watch THEY LIVE INSIDE US Episode 4 of THE WITCHING SEASON
SYNOPSIS: A man spends the night in a notorious haunted house with the hopes of finding inspiration for the scariest screenplay he can possibly write.
Written and Directed by series creator Michael Ballif, the fourth and largest episode of The Witching Season takes the series down a psychological rabbit hole.
I've been waiting impatiently for this ep since April and it didn't disappoint. A creepy captivating storyline with a spine-chillingly spooky score. Watch Episode 1: Killer on the Loose here, Episode 2: Princess here, Episode 3: Not Alone here or watch Ep. 4 below:
The Witching Season is a Halloween horror anthology series composed of short horror films that are presented on YouTube as a free web series. Inspired by classic anthology shows such as "Tales From The Crypt", "The Twilight Zone", and "Are You Afraid Of The Dark?", The Witching Season delivers originally produced tales of terror, all set during the Halloween season. Fueled nostalgia, the series pays special attention to the spirit of Halloween and reminds us of the magic that exists during that special time of year.

Last waltz of the night...
There is a slight mournful quality to this piece performed brilliantly on another folk instrument I wish I could play -- although I would like the smaller portable harmonium.
The air is full of melancholy and it seems appropriate for this posting. I know I've been heavily into the music lately, maybe that's because I don't have any words to express all the tumultuous feelings I've had these past few months. Music sometimes says it better than words.
I wanted to let you know -- particularly domain2008 dot com which appears to visit my site hundreds of times a day (I will NOT click, I will NOT click) -- that I will be taking a break from this blog to turn my attention to the next Calendar season. Where I'm hoping to lose myself for a short time.
Wishing you all the best in these...uncertain times.

RIP - All souls aboard the Harpooner
Today marks the 200th anniversary since the British transport ship, Harpooner, ran aground and sank near Cape Pine, Newfoundland.
Souls Saved - 177
Souls Lost - 208
"On November 10, 1816, the British transport ship HMS Harpooner was wrecked near St. Shott's...The ship was carrying soldiers and their families home to England. More than two hundred men, women, and children died. According to local tradition, some marines who had managed to get ashore, were buried alive when a portion of cliff, weakened by the storm and seas, collapsed on them. The site has since been known as Marines's Cove. In terms of loss of life, the wreck of the Harpooner was one of the worst marine calamities in Newfoundland history.
Many years after the disaster, some fishermen who were unfamiliar with the history of the area anchored their boat in Marines' Cove. During the night the man on watch saw one longboat towing another. Both were full of men, women and children. A big man was at the helm. As the longboat passed the fishing boat, the helmsman called up to the man on watch, "What's our course to clear Cape English?" The lookout answered, "Nor Nor-east." The watchman believed he had just seen the survivor of a shipwreck so he went below to tell the captain. The other crewmen came on deck in time to see the lantern of the longboat disappear toward the shore.
The next morning, with a gale blowing, the fisherman searched the shore for signs of the wreck or other survivors. They found nothing. When they told local residents about the lifeboats full of people, they were told that they had seen the ghosts of the doomed Harpooner." - excerpt from Ghost Stories of Newfoundland and Labrador by Edward Butts

A foggy time
November can be an unpredictable month weather-wise here on the Rock. Usually, if it snows substantially it's an indication that the winter will be long and full of snow.
But there's another kind of November weather that sometimes happens - fog. And lots of it. That's how this month has started. It means milder temperatures, not to mention photo opps, so I am very much hoping it continues.
And I wasn't the only one out there trying to capture the ephemeral qualities of fog with a camera.
At least I think that's what that guy was doing....

The post-Halloween Post
So, how was Halloween 2016?
Well, must admit this year the spirit was...distant. I had very little of the Halloween fever coursing thru my veins. I blame it on the move and still being distracted by all the real world concerns that continue to tumble over and down through my brain.
The Halloween Spirit, however, was very much alive in this neighbourhood! I had the busiest night EVER handing out candy. Many cute little skeletons, ninja turtles, fairies, peculiar children (which I'd mistaken for a ghostly mummer) and a 'banker' in minature! At least that's what I think he said he was.
As well as the incredible number of trick-or-treaters I was absolutely delighted to witness, right outside the living room window, a community dance performance of Jackson's zombie-filled Thriller! Now THAT was certainly a treat!
I had prepared, well in advance, about 80 treat bags. They mostly contained a mix of candy, chocolate and some sort of Halloween themed thing; plastic witch fingers, spooky pencils, witch/ghost erasers, etc. Minus the 6 or 8 bags that were pillaged before the night, I had nothing left by 7:12 pm!
Luckily a friend across the street was able to top me up. And tho things did slow down after that the trickle of older kids didn't stop till after 9 pm. Among that age group of trick-or-treaters was a David Bowie and a rapper who wouldn't rap ("hey lady, it's a costume...duh.") The guy hanging out with the rapper held out his hand to me and when I asked him who he was supposed to be he said "Uh, I'm a guy from my school...Declan." Ha!
